Stripped to the battens
The old covering comes off and the timbers are finally visible. This is where a survey turns into a fact, and where we tell you if anything underneath needs replacing.
New roofs & re-roofing →

Membrane and new battens
Breathable membrane over the rafters, treated battens gauged to the tile. The part nobody sees again for forty years is the part worth getting right.

Laying back on
Slate or tile goes back up the roof, chimneys are repointed and re-leaded on the way, and the verges and ridge are finished dry rather than bedded in mortar.

Finished, and cleared
Ridge and verges finished dry, gutters cleared, scaffold down, skip gone. You should not be able to tell we were there except by looking up.
